A little bit of this, a little bit of that… that’s what you’ll find at Teedaloo. My friend Thyda is an amazing make-up artist and I get all of my beauty and make-up tips from her. I’m still not very good at it (and don’t think I ever will be), but I’ve learned so much her. I not only picked up on techniques on how to apply and use make-up, but I also learned about what products work and don’t work. I seriously have never gone out there and done my own research or even done my own experimentation. I can just count of Thyda, haha. Well, when Thyda moved away to start her married life I no longer had access to her all her knowledge and first hand product reviews. A couple of months ago Thyda started working on a secret project. At first I was guessing she was going to bring her make-up website back, but I was wrong. Her project was even better! When Teedaloo was finally released I was so happy that there was a “beauty” section. If you’re located in southern California and needs a make-up artist definitely check Thyda out. She gets high praises from me based on first hand experiences =).
My Seungshine turned the big 3-0 this month. He wasn’t too thrilled. In fact, he hasn’t been too thrilled about getting older ever since he turned 25. Every year thereafter he made it seem such a depressing thing. I really don’t get people who do that. I on the other hand get excited for what lies ahead. It’s all in the attitude, dude. Anyway, I suggested we do something… get away and relax somewhere. My first suggestion was to go to Forks, WA (hahaha) and the idea got shot down real quick. I had another beautiful place in mind though and that place was Cannon Beach. Whether it was hot, cold, wet, dry, windy, snowy… I knew this place would be relaxing. I needed a getaway too. I had planned the trip for this weekend, but moved it up a weekend earlier at the last minute after I found out that some out of state friends of ours were going to be there too. Seung and I spent the entire weekend in Cannon Beach. There were moments where I contemplated venturing into Portland to do some shopping, but I’m very glad we didn’t. Plus, the beach was beautiful and it was too hard to leave. We had an amazing time strolling the beach, watching the sunset, roasting hot dogs and smores over a bonfire, having ice cream in the winter time, soaking in the tub at the beach side Surfsand Resort and just relaxing overall. I can’t wait to return in the near future and hopefully add sun bathing, burying my toes in the sand, splashing in the ocean and hiking to our activities!

Last year I developed a motto for myself and it was to “just do it”. Yea okay, I bit it off of Nike, so who cares? There are a lot of things that I want to do, but for one reason or another I end up not doing anything at all. I admit one of the things that stand in my way is fear. Fear of change, fear of failure, fear of the unknown outcome… I realize my biggest regret would be not doing anything at all and at the end of the day that was all up to me. Sometimes you just have to take that leap of faith or you would never know the outcome altogether. That wasn’t okay for me. 2009 was a year of “just do it”. It was a year of self reflection and realizations and just making things happen. I know it sounds a little silly, but sometimes you just have stop thinking about doing something and actually just doing it. In that aspect I felt 2009 was a satisfying year for me. I really want to keep this going through this new year and lately I’ve been feeling like if there’s something I really want to do that I have to make it happen. Things aren’t going to happen on their own. A lot of the times we know what we want to do. The next step is how we’re going to get there. If you want it badly enough there’s a way and that’ll be my motto for 2010… “there’s a way!”
I’m a little late but I hope you all had a wonderful holiday! Mine was great despite feeling a tiny bit like Scrooge this year. I totally wasn’t in the holiday spirits at all. I had all these ideas for custom cards and little gifts I wanted to make. Sadly, it’s been a busy month for me and I ran out of time. I didn’t even have time to go buy a box of holiday cards to send out to family and friends. I felt really sucky everytime someone asked for my address to send us a card or when someone handed over a thoughtful gift no matter how small it was. What finally got me in the holiday spirit was when I decided to host a last minute mini holiday potluck and white elephant gift exchange. I was pretty sure we wouldn’t have a crazy snow storm ruining everyone’s holiday plans this year. It turned out not being that “mini”, but everyone had fun even my poor friends who were allergic to my kitties. One even said it was worth the sacrifice, wow. Anyway, the week leading up to our holiday event this past Saturday I had this idea to have a photobooth. I thought it would be added fun and it was! The next time you throw a party and there’s an empty wall available you should consider creating a backdrop for a fun photobooth. We live in a small condo with high ceilings and we managed. Just tape up some fabrics and ta-dah! It’s that simple. Check us out, hehehe:

I love it when couples personalize their stuff (invitations, websites, favors, programs, thank you cards, etc). I think the easiest and most obvious way to do that is to incorporate the use of pictures. I received a wedding thank you card, which doubled as a holiday greetings card, from Hanh+Wing the other day and I thought it was very cute. Their wedding was in May, but it was totally worth the wait (haha, just joking guys!). It might take a little more time and maybe a little extra money to personalize your stuff, but it at least it won’t be a typical ”cookie cutter” and it’ll stand out. At the end of the day it’s all about preference though. Personally, I prefer to put a part of “me” into my stuff and I like receiving stuff from others with a part of “them”. Trust me that your hard work won’t go unnoticed. I promise someone notices. =)
